Turks
& Caicos Islands/Your Vacation
Here are a few hints & tips for your holiday,
nothing scheduled just the low down on what we enjoy here
in Providenciales.
Water
sports.
Diving
The diving in the turks & caicos is increadible you can
learn to dive here or if you already have a recognised qualification
all you have to do is contact one of the many dive operations
here. Closest to the two houses is Big
Blue Unlimited
based in Leeward marina, if you are booking them exclusively
& you are staying in Caravelle they will pick you up from
your dock. French Cay and the West Caicos walls are a must.
If you want to learn more about the makeup of the islands
they also provide kyaking trips and days out to other islands
in the group that leave you with a respectful understanding
of this unique ecosystem. Don't miss the Middle Caicos Caves,
or the bicycle trips round North Caicos.
Sailing
There is nothing nicer than seeing the islands from the deck
of a sail boat. Tim and his Catamaran Beluga are just moments
from the houses and you can be picked up from the dock at
caravelle or the beach in front of Antille. Tim has been here
for nearly fifteen years so he knows all the best spots in
the islands. One of them is the deck of his boat.
Snorkeling
Many of the patch reefs equal the main reef in their diversity
of life and outstanding beauty. The two main ones that we
recommend are Smiths Reef near Turtle Cove and the White House
Reef near the Bight. Both are a short 10 minuste car ride
from the houses, and provide areeas for the beginner and the
more experienced. Main reef snorkeling is also provided by
big blue or on Tims sail trips.
Exploring
Driving round these islands is a delight in itself. There
are so many little beaches and wonderful spots to stop and
walk round that having a rental car is a must.
Dining
There are many restaurants on Provo that provide all sorts
of cuisine, from happy go lucky sports bars with great hamburgers
to the finest of award winning kitchens that provide elegant
surroundings for fantastic meals. A couple of our favourates
are Cyoba's or Coco bistro for those special evenings. Hey
Jose's for mexican. Latitudes and Shark Bite for relaxed
evening with someting for everyone. Tiki hut or the golf course
for breakfeast, & the terrace for lunch. These are of
course just a few more can be found in the guide provided.
The Other Islands
Grand Turk & Salt cay are wonderful days out which provide
a vivid history of these islands once on of the richest places
on earth due to the production of salt.
North
Caicos is a lush quiet spot that shows a more traditional
side of island living. Recommend to be seen and experienced
by bicycle.
Middle Caicos holds one of the most extensive cave systems
in this region and are an amazing day out learning about the
indians that inhabited these islands and the geology that
now provide a base for such an extensive varied ecosystem.
